Abstract

Due to temperature fluctuations, Fifth Generation (5G) technology has sparked worries about Specific Absorption Rate (SAR), especially with reference to mobile users' head exposure, so in this study a comparison between traditional and smart absorbing materials, we conducted a comparison of specific absorption rate readings using the same type of antenna (PIFA). The first study used a flexible ferrite sheet and a foam absorber and achieved a 3.8% reduction in the absorption rate at 26 GHz (1.59 to 1.48, 1.53 W/kg), while this study used HFSS simulation for frequencies higher than 28 GHz for a smart shield made of DNG-type metamaterial and achieved much better results.
