This research aims to study urinary tract infections (UTIs), which are commonly caused by the presence of bacteria in the urinary system. Normally, most bacteria are expelled during urination; however, some may remain within the urinary tract, leading to infection. UTIs can affect various parts of the urinary system, including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Urine flows from the kidneys through the ureters into the bladder and is then expelled through the urethra.
This field study was conducted at Bani Walid General Hospital, where 500 urine samples were collected from individuals visiting the hospital, including both males and females as well as children. The samples were analyzed at the Ibn Sina Clinic Laboratory and the Bani Walid General Hospital Laboratory during the period from June 1, 2023, to December 30, 2023.
The results showed that the infection rate varied by gender, with a higher prevalence among females at 60% (300 cases), compared to 40% (200 cases) among males.
